A new ministry of revival home meetings.
In a great worship service, we might say, “God is in the house!” as it should be because it is His house. But what about your house? Joshua professed, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord”. New Testament Christianity invaded the Roman world through house churches. The corporate setting of local congregations is still God’s chief plan in the world, yet the early church met in homes during the week as well as gathering in church settings.
Paul began the great church in Philippi in a home likely rented by Lydia of Thyatira (Acts 16:15). In Philippi, Paul baptized the jailer and his whole household. That night he instructed – “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved, and your house” (Acts 16:31). Revival didn’t break out in a cathedral, rather a home. Paul’s letter to Philemon was written to “the church in your house” (Philemon 2).
3,000 souls were saved on the Day of Pentecost on the streets in crusade-style evangelism outside the Temple, but revival followed with both temple and house-to-house gatherings – “And they continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their food with gladness and singleness of heart…and the Lord added to the church daily such as were being saved” (Acts 2:46,47). This agrees with our aim – public crusades, church ministry and conferences and home revivals.
So we have been holding meetings in our home and are seeking sister-groups in other areas. Branson-area musicians and songwriters assist in worship, there is freedom in prayer and personal ministry and Kris brings a penetrating word, followed by great finger-foods and fellowship. Music, Message and Munchies!
If this type of meeting appeals to you let’s chat. Next Branson meeting is December 8th. Further details on Group-Think, Okmulgee, OK will be forthcoming.
