SOLDIER'S CONFESSION

"Endure hardness as a true soldier of Jesus Christ" (2 Timothy 2:3)

POWER WALK

(shared at the Bakersfield Men's Conference recently)

I am a soldier in God's army. The Lord Jesus Christ is my commanding officer. The Holy Bible is my code of conduct. Faith, prayer and the Word are my weapons of warfare. I have been taught by the Holy Spirit, trained by experience, tried by adversity and tested by fire.

I am a volunteer in this army but I am enlisted for eternity. I will either retire in this army at the rapture of the church or I will die in this army still clinching my sword in my hand. But I will not get out, sell out, be talked out or pushed out. I am faithful, reliable, capable, dependable, commendable, spend-able and send-able. If God needs me I am there. If He needs me to teach children, work with the youth, help adults or just study and learn He can count on me because I am there. I am a soldier.

I am not a baby. I do not need to be pampered, petted, primed up, pumped up, picked up or pepped up. I am a soldier. No one has to call me, remind me, write me, visit me, entice me or lure me. I am a soldier. I am not a wimp. I am in my place, saluting my King, obeying His orders, praising His name and building His kingdom. No one has to send me flowers, gifts, food, cards, candy or give me handouts. I do not need to be cradled, cuddled, coddled, cared for or catered to. I am committed. I am a soldier.

I cannot have my feelings hurt because I am dead to self and a dead man can't be injured. I cannot be discouraged because my life is hid with Christ in God. I cannot lose because Jesus has already won my victory on the cross. When Jesus called me into this army I had nothing so all that I now have I owe to Him. I will win. My God has and will supply all my need according to His riches in glory. I am more than a conqueror. I will always triumph. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

The devil can't defeat me, people can't disillusion me, weather can't weary me, sickness can't stop me, battles can't beat me, money can't buy me, governments can't silence me and hell can't handle me. I am a soldier! Even death cannot destroy me, for when my Commander calls me from this battlefield He will promote me to captain and will allow me to rule with Him on earth for a thousand years and in heaven forever. I am a soldier in this army marching forward to victory. I will not give up, let up or dry up but will perk up, look up, cheer up, stand up, speak up, sign up, fire up, fess up, grow up, show up, wake up and shake up till the day we take up, going forward, toward, onward, upward, God-ward, heavenward, homeward, victory-ward till at long last He appears! I am a soldier! - (unknown/ reworked by KJ)
