1. Your Plan / Your Attitude
Proverbs 16:9 A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps. Make sure you are allowing God to direct each step in your business plan. Mark 10:45 For even the Son of man did not come to be served, but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.
With this attitude, you will discover your calling and will develop a passion to serve others with your God-given skills. Care about others – they won’t do business with you if you don’t. But, do it for the right reason – God knows your heart and He won’t bless your business if you aren’t taking care of His people!
2. Your Faith
You must believe that YOU CAN! And don’t limit yourself. This takes faith, a strong faith in God, the one directing your steps! And WE CAN do ALL things through Christ! Philippians 4:13 I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me. No limits if God is truly in control.
Be and stay organized. Start with a planner, make time for God, family, business and friends.
You must strive to keep a balance in your life. This is especially important for emotional stability.
And for continued spiritual growth.
4. Ownership of your business
Lots to consider when organizing a new business or restructuring an existing business. Consider this: you DO NOT own your business – it belongs to God and you work for Him!
Don’t share everything with employees or business associates. Keep your business to yourself and your prayer partner!
Train your employees and assistants. They are a reflection of you and your business. Don’t forget to appreciate them – regularly!
Advertise as if you are already a SUCCESS! Because you will be if God is in control. First impressions are important, let them know you operate a first-class business! Use wisdom in your choices of the different avenues of marketing. Remember, God will direct your steps.
Pay your bills on time and tithe from all income. Integrity is essential! If you don’t pay your debts on time that speaks loudly as to your respect for the one that you are indebted to. It also will become a bad reflection on your business and word of mouth can be your best friend or worst enemy.
Tithing – don’t spend God’s money! 10% goes straight to the storehouse. You will be blessed, you CAN NOT out give God.
Do not compete! You are an original, just do what you do and do it with the passion God has placed in you.
Use the resources God has given you over the years. Use your experiences, your contacts and your education to reach out to potential customers.
a. Make a mailing list and create labels for each contact. Mail Christmas cards, holiday cards, announcements, sales, thank you cards or anything of interest. Keep your business name on their tongue! Keep this mailing list updated as you meet new people or establish new customers.
b. Open House can be held in most any business. Just offer a few refreshments and an invitation to visit with you about your company and how you might be able to help them. Do this annually or quarterly, whatever works for you.
c. Participate in community events. If you want to increase your customer growth, then you must take an active interest in the community. Participate in a Christmas parade, a car show, a county fair or any other community event that might be held. Become a vital part of your community!
11. Closing your business
There will come a time when your business season will end. Whether it be through retirement or a move or simply by your choice or God’s direction.
Be very careful that you don’t shut the doors just because you are facing difficulties. This is the best time for God to move in your life. His miracle working powers are very alive today and can be such a great testimony to you and others when he shows up and fixes everything for you!
Challenges? Yes, you will have them! Trials? Yes, you will have them! Stand tall, be confident in who you are in Christ and seek His direction! Never forget, that He is directing your steps, all of them! Close the doors only when He says “time to close the doors”, whether you are on top or whether you are on bottom. And then, don’t look back!
Go forward with your next assignment!
Yes, God loves to bless us! There are many blessings when you are truly following God! Here is a way to check the condition of your heart: Ask yourself. Are you looking for the blessings?? Or, are you looking for the blessor? If you are seeking the blessor, the blessings will come! If you are seeking the blessings, it’s a sign of a heart problem! Search your heart daily….. guard your heart always……
WHAT DOES COMFORT AND FEAR HAVE IN COMMON?
Once you have established your business and continue to grow, your needs will change.
But, what if you are comfortable where you are and don’t want to change anything? If God is bringing the increase, then you must prepare for His people. Being too comfortable could just be an inner fear of moving forward.
If we are fearful of going to the next step, it’s usually because we are afraid to step into the unknown territory. Fearful of not being able to meet the demand, fearful of losing control of where we are. Fearful that we will become overwhelmed and not be able to meet the requirements and responsibilities of a bigger business. We’ve never been there before – can we handle it? These thoughts can hold us back, cause us to become paralyzed in the business world, stagnant and with no growth. There is a difference between a fearful thought that prompts up to pray for a particular thing or a particular individual and a spirit of fear that paralyzes us and keeps us from moving forward.
If God is truly in control of your business, there will always be light, life, passion and a strong desire to move forward. Remember, it’s about serving others. If we stay where we are, we can only serve those we have now. Stay planted in the house of the Lord (and in your call) and you shall flourish and grow!
And yes, much will be required as you increase, but fear NOT. For He is with you!
Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Psalm 34:7 The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him and delivers them.
Psalm 92:13-15 Those who are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bear fruit in an old age; they shall be fresh and flourishing, to declare that the Lord is upright; He is my rock and there is no unrighteousness in Him.
Luke 12:48 For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask more.
